Derelict Bramley Old Hall Cottages plan refused

A PROPOSAL to refurbish a derelict 300-year-old cottage building has been thrown out by planners.

Rotherham Borough Council said the project at the Old Hall Cottages in Bramley would be overdevelopment.

Applicants JML Residential Property wanted to revive and expand the Main Street building, already divided into four cottages.

The firm also intended to demolish a second building on site and replace it with two new properties, creating a courtyard site.

But a council spokesman said: “The proposal represents a cramped and overdeveloped form of development contrary to the low density form of existing historic developments.”
