Dad turns midwife in hospital car park

DAZED dad Stephen Loughnane was left pinching himself after his partner’s whirlwind labour ended with the dramatic delivery of their daughter in a hospital car park.

Stunned Stephen was eager to get pregnant Kelly Yarrow onto the labour ward after a dash to Rotherham Hospital on Wednesday morning, but was forced to oversee the delivery of Ivy Rose, without any help from doctors or midwives.

Despite her shock start to life, the 6lb 13oz bundle of joy was transferred from a parking bay to the post-natal ward after medics responded to the couples calls for help  and is now doing well.

Stephen (44), of Herringthorpe, said: “It’s all like a dream. It all happened so fast.”
