Cuts have changed local Government - Rotherham councillor

“DRASTIC” cuts have fundamentally changed the role and capacity of local government, a Rotherham councillor told the Labour party conference.

Cllr Emma Hoddinott spoke about the 1,000 redundancies already made at Rotherham Borough Council and the efforts to recover after the CSE scandal.

She said: “We know more than most how important good public services are. We are facing a big challenge to rebuild our town, pay for support services and ensure our children are safe.

“But at the same time, the council is facing £41 million worth of Tory cuts.”
