Woman needed surgery after dog bite

A WOMAN had to have surgery after being bitten by a dog in Bradgate Park.

The 40-year-old was walking through the park at around 9.35pm on Tuesday, June 28 when a man, who was walking his dog on a lead, approached her to ask a question.

The dog then but the woman, causing a serious injury to her arm. She was taken to hospital where she had surgery on her arm.

The owner of the dog left the scene before police were called and officers are now asking for the owner of the dog to come forward and for the public’s help to identify them.

He is described as Asian, about 20-years-old, tall, with facial stubble and of a slim build. He was wearing a black and red shell-suit style jacket with dark blue jeans. 

Police said he is thought to have left the area in the direction of Ferham.

The dog was described as Husky/Akita type breed and white and grey.
