Woman named following fatal road crash

THE 30 year-old woman who died from her injuries sustained in a road traffic collision has been named by police.

THE 30-year-old woman who died from her injuries sustained in a road traffic collision has been named by police.

Sophie Dawson, from Wickersley, died on Wednesday after the black Citroen C1 she was driving collided with a black Kia Rio, which was being driven in the opposite direction.

The incident occurred shortly before 2.50pm on Kilnhurst Road, Hooton Roberts.

Miss Dawson was airlifted to the Northern General Hospital but died of her injures a short time later.

An 18-year-old man who was driving the Kia vehicle suffered minor injuries.

Police officers are continuing to appeal for witnesses.
