Woman in 90s rescued from kitchen fire

Smoke alarms sounded at the bungalow on St Nicolas Walk, Rawmarsh, at 10.45pm on Tuesday night, alerting neighbours who then contacted the fire service.

The fire was already out when crews from Dearne and Rotherham fire stations arrived on the scene, but the property was smoke-logged.

The woman was assisted out of the property by firefighters who gave her first aid until paramedics arrived

The property was ventilated and the woman was taken to hospital for a precautionary check up.
