Wath murder latest: Man charged with murder of wife and daughter

A 70-year-old man has been charged with the double murder of his wife and daughter.

The bodies of Jean Redfern (67) and her daughter Sarah (33) were found at a bungalow on Sandygate, Wath, on Monday night.

Peter Redfern is due before magistrates in Rotherham this morning.

Postmortem results revealed that Jean suffered asphyxiation and Sarah had died from severe head injuries.

A police spokeswoman said: “The man who was arrested on Monday night, following the discovery of two deceased woman in Wath has now been charged.”
