UPDATE: Woman and man arrested for assault on vulnerable homeowner

A WOMAN and a man have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a 55-year-old man was seriously assaulted in his home.

The 46-year-old man and 35-year-old woman, both from Rotherham, are currently in custody being questioned by police.

Emergency services were called to a property in Katherine Road, Thurcroft, at around 9.45pm on Tuesday following reports a man had been found injured.

The 55-year-old was taken to hospital with multiple injuries and remains in a serious condition.

Police continue to appeal for information.
