Toyshop ban for Rotherham shoplifter

A WOMAN has been banned from a toy store by police carrying out a crackdown on shoplifting.

The thief, who has not been named, was given a banning order barring her from entering Smyths Toy Store at Cortonwood Retail Park. Three men were arrested for theft.

It was part of an operation by Wath Safer Neighbourhood Team under which the offered crime prevention to shoppers and carried out patrols of the park.

A spokeswoman said: “Police officers and police cadets offered crime prevention advice to shoppers at Cortonwood Retail Park which was greatly welcomed and appreciated by the public.  

“Important advice was given to shoppers regarding their personal belongings and on how to ensure bags are closed and zipped up and not left on unattended trolleys.”
