Three rescued from house fire

FIREFIGHTERS had to rescue three people from a house fire in the early hours of this morning.

Firefighters were called to a property on Moor Road, Wath, at around 3.30am on Tuesday.

A man and a woman had to be led down ladders from an upstairs window of the house and another woman, who was still in the property, was given “fire survival guidance” and led to safety.

All three people were taken to hospital by ambulance suffering from the effects of smoke inhalation.

Crews had to use ventilation equipment throughout the home which became heavily smoke logged, following the ground floor blaze.

Firefighters from Dearne, Cudworth and Rotherham attended the incident and left the scene at around 6am.

An investigation has been launched into the cause of the fire.
