Teen's ear bitten in one of two violent attacks

A TEENAGER had his ear bitten in one of two violent attacks which police believe may be linked to the same gang.

Two men were assaulted by a gang of three men in separate incidents within just five minutes of each other in Consibrough on Sunday.

A 41-year-old man was walking home from the Conyers pub at around 9.30pm when he was approached by three men in Gardens Lane, at the junction with Ivanhoe Road.

Police said the men pulled up in a silver vehicle, walked towards the man and started kicking and hitting him before they took his wallet and iPhone.

They then left the scene in the vehicle.

Five minutes later a 19-year-old man was walking along Station Road with his 16-year-old girlfriend when a silver vehicle pulled up alongside them.

Men left the car and grabbed the teenager by the neck and hit him before one of the gang bit his ear.

They then went through the victim’s pockets while he was on the floor and grabbed his girlfriend’s bag before leaving the scene.

Investigating officer PC Alex Owen said: “We are unsure exactly what order the incidents happened, however, due to the descriptions of the men and the vehicle involved they are being treated as linked.

“In both cases the assaults were aggressive and unprovoked and the victims are receiving support from specialist officers.

“We are following a number of lines of enquiry, including reviewing CCTV, to try and establish who is responsible.

“If anyone did see or hear anything please do make contact.”
