Teenager arrested after "sex attack" in Wickersley park

A 16-YEAR-OLD boy has been arrested following a reported rape in a Wickersley park.

The attack at the park off Warren Road was reported at 6.30pm yesterday.

A spokeswoman confirmed an investigation was underway but moved to reassure the public that “this was an isolated incident”.

The teenager arrested was in custody and due to be interviewed by detectives today.

The spokeswoman said: “The victim is being supported by specially trained officers at this time.

“A cordon is in place at the scene while police carry out their enquiries.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting incident number 1017 of July 13.
