Suspect bailed over Maltby murder

A 29-year-old man has been released on bail as the investigation into the murder of a 38-year-old man continues.

Paul Sandford (38) — also known as Paul Dyson — was assaulted at his Littlehey Close home in Maltby on October 30.

Mr Sandford (pictured) died in hospital last Wednesday and further tests were requested to determine the cause of death after a postmortem proved inconclusive.

The 29-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder last week. He has been bailed while detectives continue enquiries.

Det Chief Insp Craig Robinson said: “We are in the very early stages of our inquiry and officers remain in the local community, examining CCTV footage and gathering information.

“A number of lines of enquiry are being pursued and I want to reassure local residents that we are working incredibly hard to understand the circumstances surrounding this man’s death.

“To ensure that our investigation is as comprehensive as possible, I’d like to appeal to anyone that may hold information to come forward.
