Steven Challands (34) from Rotherham accused of Cornwall stabbing

A ROTHERHAM man has appeared in court charged with attempted murder following a stabbing incident in Cornwall over the weekend.

Steven Challands (34) from Rotherham was charged with one count of attempted murder, four counts of false imprisonment, two counts of GBH and one count of ABH following the incident in Sennen.

Police and ambulance crews were called to a property in the village just after 6am on Saturday after a reports of a woman and children being assaulted.

A police spokesman said: “A woman aged 33 suffered a stab wound to her neck. “Her three children were also injured  — a nine-year-old boy suffered a head injury, a seven-year-old girl suffered facial injuries and a five-year-old boy also suffered a head injury.

“All the victims were taken to Treliske for treatment.

“None of the injuries are life-threatening.”

Challands appeared at Truro Magistrates Court on Sunday and was remanded to appear at Truro Crown Count on May 27.
