Spate of arson attacks

FIRE crews tackled deliberate fires in three places over the weekend.

One team from Rotherham station attended a rubbish fire on William Street, Wellgate at around 7.50pm on Friday.

They left the scene at around 8.30pm. The blaze is thought to have been started on purpose.

One crew from Dearne station attended a fire on Norman Street, Thurnscoe at around 3.10am on Saturday.

There they put out burning fence panels and a lawnmower, which are thought to have been set alight deliberately.

Two teams from Rotherham and one from Elm Lane attended a blaze at a derelict house on Ferham Road, Holmes at around 2.25am today.

They spent two-and-a-half hours putting out a fire in the kitchen and clearing the house of smoke.

The fire is thought to have been caused deliberately.
