South Yorkshire Police launch Christmas campaign

ALCOHOL-related crimes which usually rise in winter form the focus of South Yorkshire Police’s Christmas campaign.

Drink-driving, anti-social behaviour, sex offences and domestic abuse traditionally see a spike at this time of year.

A crashed car will be placed in city and town centres by the Safer Roads Partnership to highlight the consequences of driving while over the limit.

Chief Insp Glen Suttenwood said: “Although we do not want to stop anyone from enjoying themselves, we do want to make everyone aware of the dangers that can be caused by drink or drug driving.”

Officers will carry out breath tests to identify motorists putting themselves and other in danger by breaking the law.
