Shopkeeper scares off armed robbers

AN ARMED robber was stopped in his tracks when a shopkeeper turned a gun on him.

A court heard Andrew Rich (30), who was sentenced to six years for robbery on Thursday after targetting four shops, fled with his accomplice after Amarpreet Brar, owner of Broadway News and Booze in Broadway, Swinton, pointed an airgun at them.

Mr Brar said: “I was scared as well as being prepared.”

He welcomed the sentences handed to Rich and two teenage accomplices but admitted: “I am now more concerned about myself and my family.

“I stare at my CCTV all the time.”
