Rotherham Police Sergeant and team compete at Royal Windsor Horse Show

A ROTHERHAM sergeant was among three police officers who competed in front of royalty at an annual horse riding show.

Sgt Rachael Redmond was joined by dog handler PC Faye North-Gill and Sheffield PCSO Emma-Jo Thorpe at the Royal Windsor Horse Show.

The trio are part of South Yorkshire Police’s Saddle Club, part of the force’s sports and social scene.

They compete on their own horses and in their own time, and participated along with 29 other teams in the private grounds of Windsor Castle.

PC North-Gill said: “We all had an amazing weekend. Our horses behaved impeccably, and the atmosphere was fantastic.

“We all serve our communities across South Yorkshire in different roles, but we’re brought together through our love of horses and are lucky to represent our force at local, regional and national competitions.

“It’s a privilege to take part in such a highly respected competition and the icing on the cake for us all was parading our horses, alongside the other teams, in front of the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh. It was a weekend to remember.”
