Rotherham attack victim 'critical'

A MAN is critical in hospital after an alleged assault in a Rotherham street.

The 26-year-old local man was attacked in the street at Orchard Place at 5am on Sunday.

He sustained serious head injuries and was taken to the Royal Hallamshire Hospital where, after undergoing surgery, he remains in a critical but stable condition.

Two men, a 23-year-old and a 24-year-old, have been arrested by South Yorkshire Police on suspicion of assault.

Detectives are appealing for anyone with any information about the incident to contact South Yorkshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 249 of Sunday 26 August.
