£2million cannabis farm discovered in Mexborough this morning

A CANNABIS farm worth an estimated £2 million has been uncovered this morning (Wednesday) in Mexborough — and a man has been arrested.

A CANNABIS farm worth an estimated £2million has been uncovered this morning (Wednesday) in Mexborough — and a man has been arrested.

Police said the “significant and complex” cannabis set-up was discovered in an industrial building on Swinton Road with approximately 1,500 to 2,000 plants worth an estimated £2million.

Officers from the Doncaster Fortify Team, dedicated to tackling serious and organised crime in the area, raided the drug den using specialist equipment.

“No-one was at the premises and enquiries are underway to identify those involved,” said a police spokeswoman.

“A cordon will remain in place while scenes of crime officers attend and forensic enquiries are carried out.”
