Police want your help to bag graffiti taggers

Officers tackling antisocial behaviour this Hallowe’en and Bonfire Night period are asking concerned citizens to identify the graffiti vandals spoiling Rotherham’s public spaces.

Chief Insp Colin McFarlane said: “We know antisocial behaviour including vandalism and criminal damage can have an impact on how safe and secure people feel.

“We are looking for the public’s help in identifying these graffiti taggers who blight our communities.”

A quarter of South Yorkshire residents surveyed between April 2011 and March 2012 said that vandalism, graffiti and other damage should be a top priority for police, while 29 percent said that they had witnessed antisocial behaviour in the last 12 months.

This latest appeal is part of a campaign to round up vandals, underage drinkers and mischievous fireworks owners.

Anyone with information which might identity of those spraying these tags is asked to call police on non-emergency number 101, quoting the number of the tag as it appears here.

Officers have also teamed up with the fire service to provide activities for youngsters during the dark winter evenings.
