Police trying to trace Maltby pensioner

CONCERNS are growing for the welfare of an elderly woman who was seen walking down a main road in the early hours of this morning wearing a night-dress and no shoes or socks.

The lady, who is described as having grey hair and in her 70s, was seen walking along Rotherham Road, Maltby, towards High Street, at around 4.30am this morning (Tuesday).

Police said officers have carried out a search of the area but have not been able to find the lady.

A spokesman said they have also contacted all residential homes in the surrounding area and no-one has been reported missing.

The force would now like to hear from anyone who may know the woman or who has seen her.

Sgt Mark Hitchenor, of South Yorkshire Police, said: “We are concerned that this lady may be confused or disorientated and are asking for your help to identify her.

“If you have a relative or friend that this could possibly be, please visit them or give them a call to check they are safe and well.

“If you know that this is your family member or neighbour and they are now home, please get in touch so we can be assured that this lady is safe.

“If you live in the area, please keep your eye out for this lady and if you see her, please contact us.

“It is vital that we identify this lady to ensure her well-being.”
