Police investigate Wath walk-in burglaries

POLICE are investigating two reported walk-in burglaries at houses in Wath last weekend.

Between 11pm on Friday and 1.15am on Saturday, burglars entered a Saville Road property via an open back door.

A number of items were reported stolen, including a safe.

Between 11.10am and 11.30am on Sunday, thieves entered a home on Constable Place via an unsecured front door, taking a purse.

A police spokesman said there was no known connection between the two incidents.

Officers urged all householders to make sure doors and windows were locked at all times.

Comments on Facebook page I grew up in Wath-upon-Dearne suggested four more break-ins on Saville Road on Sunday night.

Police have not yet confirmed any more thefts.
