Police hunt owner of killer dog

A man had a lurcher-type dog off its lead as he walked through the park with a woman and three small children at around 7pm on Thursday, October 2.

His lurcher is thought to have bitten the pedigree Schnauzer, which was being walked by a woman nearby.

The man offered to drive the woman to a vet, but the Schnauzer died within minutes.

He left a phone number with the woman, but this later turned out to be a fake.

The man is described as being white and left the area in a gold or brown saloon car.

The Schnauzer owner was not injured, but was very distressed by the death of her pet.

Officers urge anyone who witnessed the incident or was near the ponds at the time to call them on 101, quoting incident 380 of October 2.
