Pensioner robbed in village street left with injuries

A 78-year-old woman has been left with leg and facial injuries after being robbed in a village street in broad daylight.

The incident occurred on Tuesday  around 1pm on Stone Close, Ravenfield, when the woman was approached from behind by an unknown man.

A South Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said: “The man is alleged to have grabbed the woman’s bag, knocking her to the ground.

“She was taken to hospital for treatment for injuries to her leg and face.”

The man is described as white, between 20 and 25-years-old, wearing dark trousers and a light grey top.

The police spokeswoman added: “The police investigation is ongoing and officers are in the community collecting CCTV footage and carrying out house-to-house enquiries.

“If you have any information call the police on 101 quoting incident number 476 of October 27.”
