Opportunist thief disappears with mobile phone

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a mobile phone was stolen from a distracted dog-walker.

The 24-year-old woman was walking her two dogs along High Street, Mexborough, at 5pm on Friday, November 16.

One of the pets broke free and ran towards two men, who were walking another dog nearby.

The woman gave chase, dropping her mobile on the pavement. Police believe that one of these men then picked the phone up and walked away with it.

The first man is described as white, 45-years-old, 5ft 8ins tall and of stocky build. He was wearing a green Barbour jacket.

The second man is described as white with dark hair, 45-years-old, 5ft 10ins tall and of medium build. He was wearing a dark Barbour jacket.

Police urge anyone who may have seen the incident to call them on 101, quoting incident number 830 of November 16.
