New interim South Yorkshire police chief appointed

SOUTH Yorkshire's new interim police and crime commissioner has been appointed - with the previous PCC's treasurer Steve Pick given the role.

An Election for new Shaun Wright's replacement to take place on Thursday, October 30.

In the mean time, Mr Pick - the treasurer of the South Yorkshire PCC office - will assume the role.

Mr Wright’s former deputy Tracey Cheetham, resigned in the wake of the child sex scandal after Mr Wright initially refused to resign, had also stood for the interim post but was rejected in favour of Mr Pick.

He was appointed at a meeting at Rotherham Town Hall this morning.
