Murder victim named by police

A WOMAN found dead at her home after a “prolonged attack” has been named by police as Lucy Jones.

Police were called to her home on West Street, Goldthorpe, at around 10.20am on Saturday, October 8, following concerns for her safety. When they arrived they found her body.

Floral tributes to Miss Jones (35) were left outside the house on Monday, one of which read: “Lucy, love ya to bits, miss u loads. Kerrie, Craig and kids.”

Police said a post-mortem examination found the cause of death was a result of multiple injuries from a “prolonged attack”.

Liam Fletcher (29), of Elizabeth Street, Goldthorpe, appeared in court charged with Miss Jones’ murder on Monday.

He was remanded in custody until he appears at Sheffield Crown Court on Monday, November 7.
