Murder suspect due in court after woman found dead

A MAN was due to appear in court this morning charged with murder after police found a woman’s body at a house in Goldthorpe.

Liam Fletcher (29), of Elizabeth Street, Goldthorpe, was due to appear at Barnsley Magistrates’ Court on Monday.

Police were called to a property on West Street after receiving a report for the concern of a woman on Saturday, October 8 at around 10.20am.

When they arrived, they found the body of a 35-year-old woman.

A post-mortem examination found the cause of death was a result of multiple injuries from a “prolonged attack”.

A police spokesman said formal identification was yet to take place, but the woman’s family had been informed.
