Murder accused appears in court

A MAN charged with the murder of a 44-year-old man found seriously injured at the scene of a house fire has been remanded in custody.

Paul Anthony Noel Cain (23), appeared before Sheffield Magistrates’ Court on Saturday 1 August charged with killing Cy Cooper, who was found with “multiple injuries” in the burning fire at  Bluebell Close in Wincobank.

Cain, of no fixed abode, was remanded to appear at Sheffield Crown Court on August 14.

Mr Cooper was pulled out of the property in Bluebell Close in the early hours of last Wednesday and was later pronounced dead at the scene.

Cain was charged following a post-mortem into Mr Cooper’s death, which found none of his injuries were related to the fire.

Three other men and a woman, initially arrested on suspicion of murder, have been released from the investigation.
