Man jailed for Rotherham pub attack

A 21-year-old man has been jailed for stabbing a man during an unprovoked attack at a Rotherham pub.

Jack Ward (pictured) was in the Exchange Pub, in Domine Lane, at about 2.40am on October 12 when he lunged at the 20-year-old victim before fleeing the scene armed with the weapon.

The victim sustained a single stab wound and was taken to hospital where he underwent treatment.

Detectives quickly identified Ward, of Milnrow View, Sheffield, through a detailed trawl of CCTV, extensive enquiries and information from witnesses.

During an earlier court hearing Ward admitted greivous bodily harm and possession of a bladed article and at Sheffield Crown Court today he was sentenced to nine years and two years respectively. The sentences are to run concurrently.
