Man fighting for his life after being found injured in street

The 65-year-old was discovered on Jardine Street, Wombwell, at about 10.30pm on Monday.

Emergency services were called to the scene after a call that the man had potentially serious head injuries.

He was taken to hospital where he currently remains in a serious and potentially life-threatening condition. 

Police have launched an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident and anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious is urged to contact them. 

A cordon remains in place in Jardine Street while enquiries are carried out and the following roads are due to be closed for several hours: Hough Lane, Jardine Street, Pickup Crescent and Collindridge Road.
