Man charged with five burglaries

Police were called to a number of reports of thefts in the Brinsworth area on January 3.

Shaun Paul Battye, of no fixed abode, was remanded in custody on Monday to appear at Sheffield Crown Court on January 19.

Det Insp John Hobson said: “I’d like to take this opportunity to remind residents to check that their homes are secure during the darker nights and winter months.

“Make sure your doors and windows are locked, remove any valuables or keys from view, and consider additional security measures like lighting or burglar alarms.”
