Man arrested over attack on Maltby pensioner is released

DETECTIVES investigating an attack which left an 80-year-old man with serious injuries have released a man arrested in connection with the incident.

Police confirmed last night that a 23-year-old man arrested over the alleged assault in Maltby had been released with no further action.

Two 19-year-old men continue to help police with enquiries.

The three men were arrested on suspicion of attempt murder.

Police were called to a property on Salisbury Road on Friday after the 80-year-old man was found in a collapsed state.

He remained in hospital this morning in a serious but stable condition.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information should contact 101 quoting incident number 408 of October 1 2015.
