Man arrested after town centre stabbing

POLICE have arrested a man on suspicion of attempted murder after following an early hours stabbing outside a town centre bar.

The 21-year-old was detained by officers after the incident outside The Exchange, on Domine Lane, at around 2.50am on Saturday (12) morning.

A police spokeswoman confirmed that a 20-year-old man was taken to hospital suffering from a stab wound to his abdomen and remains “serious but stable condition.”

The spokeswoman said that the 21-year-old man had been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, adding “he is currently in custody assisting police with their enquiries.”

Investigating officers are now urging members of the public who witnessed the incident to come forward.

Witnesses should contact police by dialling 101, quoting incident number 156 of October 12.
