Logo competition to mark new Police and Crime Commissioner

SOUTH Yorkshire’s budding designers are being asked to come up with a logo for the county’s new Police and Crime Commissioner.

The logo will be used on all official stationery, posters, websites and brochures.

Entries, which are open to people over 16, will be judged on how well they portray the role of  the new Crime Commissioner - who will take office in South Yorkshire on November 15.

The comissioner will replace the county's police Authority, taking over duties including overseeing the budget for policing, signing off the police and crime plan and holding the chief constable to account.

The comissioner must consult with the public and the victims of crime on policing and how local issues — from CCTV, street lighting and graffiti to tackling gangs and drug dealing — can affect a neighbourhood.

Entries will be judged on originality, creativity, simplicity and should not use more than three colours.

The winner will be chosen by the new comissioner and receive £250 worth of high street vouchers on top of the honour of having their design featured on all official PCC materials.
