Jail for Dinnington shop thief

A 42-year-old man has been jailed after he tried to break into his local general store.

Paul Rodgers, from Leicester Road, Dinnington, to 18 weeks in jail was sentenced on Tuesday (January 7) at Rotherham Magistrates’ Court.

Rodgers admitted attempted burglary after he tried to break into the store at Lordens Hill, Dinnington, at 10pm on Sunday, January 5.

South Yorkshire Police said it was another success for its Operation Lockdown which launched in October to combat burglary and vehicle crime.

More than 700 suspects have so far been arrested.
