Hooded gang hunted after Masbrough attack

A MOB of 14 hooded men are being sought by police after a 19-year-old man was beaten and robbed near an underpass on the outskirts of the town centre.

Officers have issued an appeal for information about the incident on the approach to an underpass beneath the former B&Q roundabout at Masbrough when the victim was knocked to the ground before being “repeatedly punched and kicked”.

A police spokeswoman said that the 19-year-old had been walking from the direction of Princes Street, Masbrough.

She said: “A group of approximately 14 males, believed to be aged in their mid to late teens, and of an Eastern European appearance, were stood around just before the underpass, with the majority of them wearing dark hooded tops.”

The spokeswoman added that the man walked past the group before being “attacked from behind, pushed to the floor and repeatedly punched and kicked”.

The man’s bag and his mobile phone were taken in the attack which happened at around 11.15pm on September 7.
