Gun threat in attempted robbery at Flanderwell shop

A MAN threatened staff with a handgun during an attempted robbery at a convenience store.

He demanded money at the Co-op on Fleming Way, Flanderwell, at 9.45pm on Monday but left empty-handed.

The suspect is described as white and 6ft tall. He wore a balaclava, dark blue hooded top and grey bottoms. 

A police spokesman said: “Officers are carrying out increased patrols in the area and an investigation is underway.”

Witnesses are asked to call 101 quoting incident 1245 of August 3.
