Girl (9) injured in five-car pile up

A NINE-YEAR-OLD girl broke her jaw in a five-car pile up on the Sheffield Parkway near Catcliffe.

A silver BMW was stationary in traffic around half-a-mile from the Catcliffe junction when it was involved in a collision with a grey BMW travelling towards the M1 motorway at around 5.50pm on Thursday.

The impact resulted in a third car, a blue Honda Civic, colliding with the silver BMW and the grey BMW also collided with a fourth car, a grew Volskwagen Golf, which clipped the side of a red Ford Fiesta.

The drivers of both BMWs were taken to hospital with minor injuries and the nine-year-old was kept in hospital overnight.
