Firemen pluck stranded DIY man from Rotherham rooftop

FIREFIGHTERS rescued a man in his 50s from a rooftop after he became stranded while carrying out repairs.

Two fire engines responded to calls for help after the DIY roofer became stranded at the property on South Crescent, East Dene, at around 2.20pm yesterday.

Crews were in attendance for almost an hour and a half as they used

 a telescopic ladder to carry out the rescue.

A fire brigade spokeswoman said: “It appears that the man, who was in his 50s, was carrying out repairs to some roof tiles when he became stranded and couldn’t get down.

“Another person at the property made the call for help and crews worked as quickly as they could to resolve the matter.”
