Fire crews tackle blaze at sleeping cook's home

Two crews from Maltby and Rotherham stations visited Moorfield Road at 8.33pm after an automatic alarm sounded in a home there.

The occupant had fallen asleep while cooking and their dinner had caught alight.

The blaze was out by the time firefighters attended — they left the scene at around 9.20pm.

The kitchen suffered minor smoke damage, but no-one was injured.
