Fire at former Conisbrough pub

FIREFIGHTERS were called to a former Conisbrough pub after it was targeted in a suspected arson attack.

Residents reported hearing a loud bang at the derelict Talisman pub on Chestnut Grove at 6.30pm last Wednesday.

A fire service spokesman said: “There was some damage to some wooden boards and exterior cladding.

“One fire crew from Edlington put out the fire using a hose reel.  

“We believe the fire was started deliberately.”

A resident said three young boys had been seen running away from the scene.

* A LARGE grass embankment was deliberately set alight on Tuesday evening.

A fire crew from Aston Park was called to tackle the blaze at the spot on the A57 near the River Rother at 8.20pm, leaving almost an hour later.
