Family confronted by masked burglars during Maltby raid

A FAMILY have been left shaken after they were confronted by three masked burglars.

Police received a report that three men had entered a property on Tickhill Road, Maltby around 7pm on Thursday.

A spokeswoman for South Yorkshire Police said: “After confronting the occupants the suspects are believed to have stolen cash, jewellery, and a white Land Rover Discovery vehicle with the registration number YT61 WMF.”

The jewellery included two yellow gold rings, a diamond and sapphire engagement ring, and a cut leaf wedding band.

The men, who were all wearing masks, are described as white, and in their 30s with local accents. 

The occupants of the property were not injured but have been left shocked and are receiving support from specialist officers.

Det Con Joanna Glaves, who is leading the investigation, said: “While this property is in an isolated location, we would still like to hear from anyone who was in the area around 7pm on Thursday evening and heard or saw anything suspicious.

“We are also keen to hear from anyone who may have been offered jewellery matching the description or has seen the Land Rover Discovery since Thursday.

“I can reassure residents in Maltby that we are treating this investigation as a priority and are continuing to follow a number of lines of enquiry.”
