Fire crews were called to the home on Clarendon Road shortly before 11pm on Monday after the bedroom decoration caught fire.

The bedroom suffered severe fire damage while the rest of the bungalow was flooded with smoke.

No-one was home at the time of the fire. Neighbours called the fire service when they heard the building’s smoke alarm sounding.

Fire investigators deemed the cause of the fire to be electrical overheating.

They have warned homeowners to make sure that all electrical appliances are switched off when not in use.
