Ex-Marine joins top team at South Yorkshire Police

A FORMER Marine who served in Northern Ireland and the Falklands has been appointed deputy chief constable of South Yorkshire Police.

Andy Holt joined the force from Greater Manchester Police in 2006 when he became assistant chief constable for territorial operations.

DCC Holt is also the Association of Chief Police Officers lead officer for police pursuits and football in England and Wales.

Chief Constable David Crompton said: "He is a vastly experienced officer. His skills and abilities are ideally suited to the challenges which lie ahead.”
