Electrical fault blamed for takeaway blaze

A FIRE broke out at a pizza takeaway which was in the process of being refurbished.

Firefighters were called to Dominic’s Pizza, on Barnsley Road in Goldthorpe, in the early hours todfay..

Crews from Dearne and Adwick stations arrived at 4.45am to find the ceiling of the takeaway and floor of the upstairs flat on fire.

A fire service spokesman said: “Both were in the process of being refurbished, so no one was in at the time.”

A large part of the floor and ceiling has burned away and the flat is smoke damaged.

The fire is believed to have started accidentally due to an electrical fault.
