Eight arrests – so far – in Doncaster’s dedicated day of police activity

EIGHT arrests were made during a number of early morning raids today as part of a special police operation.

Officers carried out the raids under the banner of Operation Duxford, which sees the district and Operation Fortify teams supported by specialist resources from across the force and partner organisations.

With a focus on tackling burglary, police teams began at 7pm yesterday and are continuing enforcement, high visibility patrols and engagement activities throughout today.

Doncaster District Commander Chief Supt Ian Proffitt, who briefed officers outside College Road Police Station, said: “Operation Duxford is a targeted day of action, which allows us to focus our attentions on the issues that our communities have told us matter to them.

“Today's activity is being led by the officers and staff in Operation Castle, our newly created, dedicated response to burglary.

“This team of experienced detectives is working to target known burglars, identifying trends and patterns to focus their patrols and conducting high quality investigations to secure charges and convictions at court.

“We have already seen some great results from enforcement activity and warrants across Doncaster overnight with eight arrests and this work is set to continue throughout the day.”

In addition, officers also carried out road traffic operations, ran engagement stalls and conducted high-visibility patrols in key areas.
