Driver cut free from car after two-vehicle crash

A MAN had to be cut free from his car this morning after a two-vehicle crash which left two people with serious injuries.

The incident occurred at around 6.30am on Droppingwell Road, Kimberworth.

Two cars, a Volkswagen Golf and a BMW, were reportedly involved in the collision and South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue were called to the scene.

Two crews from Rotherham station and Elm Lane attended and had to remove the roof off one of the vehicles to free the male driver.

Yorkshire Ambulance Service said one driver was taken to Rotherham Hospital, and the second was taken to Northern General with chest and neck injuries.

Police temporarily closed the road while the incident was dealt with and it was reopened just before 8am.
