Dog saved as phone charger fault sets house ablaze

FIREFIGHTERS rescued a dog from a house fire in West Melton on Sunday evening.

Crews from Dearne and Barnsley stations were called to Winterwell Road at about 2.30pm.

A couple in their 20s and their child were out of the house at the time. The pet was treated at the scene for the effects of breathing in smoke.

The fire was accidental and thought to have been caused by a faulty phone charger.
